Alexandra painted 'Ego' from 2020-2021 during the Covid pandemic, which heavily inspired her thoughts behind the work. 'Humanity’s Ego, a plague, fueling selfishness as humans act as if they are the center of the universe. But what if for a moment, humans were able to see from the center of the universe, to look down on Earth.
Would we see that we are all one, that each of our individual actions does in fact affect others even though we may not see it directly? Would we see that the mycelium, the trees, the environment, other species, our species are all interconnected? Would we see now what we’ve done to the ocean, our life force, as the marine life, devoid of color, escapes to look for a portal to a new cared-for home?
But, what if we were allowed another chance to start from the beginning? What if the dinosaurs came back, reversed evolution, allowed us to start over as a species with the knowledge we have in 2021?
But, what if it was all a dream last night? When you awake, what person would you decide to be today, what actions will you take, what energy will you put into the world?'
